Recently, ispace has announced its plan to launch second moon landing mission, 'Hakuto-R Mission 2' as early as December 2024.
The mission will use a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to deliver the spacecraft from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The spacecraft aims to land on the moon after a journey of four to five months.
This mission follows ispace's first moon landing attempt in April 2023, which failed due to an altitude miscalculation in the final moments.
The mission will include the RESILIENCE lunar lander and TENACIOUS micro rover. Nearly all testing for the RESILIENCE lander has been completed, and it'll be shipped to the launch site soon.
Recently, India, Japan and China have also conducted successful lunar missions. Tokyo is the capital of Japan.
The 'ispace' was founded in 2010 by Takeshi Hakamada, which has grown across Japan, the United States, and Luxembourg.
